Tilray Makes History with Medical Cannabis Flower Launch in Italy
Tilray (TSE:TLRY) gained modest traction in Tuesday's trading session following a landmark authorization from Italy's Ministero della Salute. The Canadian cannabis producer became the first company to offer medical cannabis flower for therapeutic use in the country, marking a strategic expansion of its European footprint.
Three new flower varieties will now be distributed through Italian pharmacies, building on Tilray's existing presence established in May 2023. "This milestone underscores the vital role of medical cannabis as a therapeutic medicine," said Denise Faltischek, Tilray's Chief Strategy Officer. The MOVE signals growing global acceptance of cannabis-based treatments while diversifying Tilray's revenue streams beyond North America.
